Download PDF I Never Promised You a Rose Garden Book by John Crace Full eBook and published by Random House. This book was released on 2014-11-06 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exactly a week after the general election, two men – ‘Call me Dave’ and ‘Call me Nick’ – walked side by side into the rose garden of No. 10 Downing Street to give their first press-conference as Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, looking for all the world like men in love. It was a romance in which people wanted to believe. But it was also one that people couldn't help but mistrust. Most unnerving, however, was the sense that they both couldn't quite believe their luck. Cameron: I can't believe it. All those people out there just for us ... Clegg: I know. It's mad, isn't it? I have to keep pinching myself as well. Cameron: Go on say it again ... Clegg: What? Cameron: Call me Prime Minister ... The storms the Dave and Nick partnership would have to face (same sex marriage, plebgate, triple dip recession, riots ...) were then unclear. Now, almost five years on, this up-to-the-minute portrait of Westminster and the forthcoming General Election exposes the realities of the Coalition, while offering an indispensible guide to a half-decade of madness: · * Foreign Policy - The new 'special relationship' - William Hague and Angelina Jolie · * The Economy - Osborne finally cracks it: boom in London; bust everywhere else. · * Immigration - should the entire population of Bulgaria pick strawberries for us? · * The Opposition - how Labour got the wrong Miliband. Includes: * UKIP, PPI, ISIS and other dubious acronyms. · * The countdown to the General Election 2015: five years of planning since the last one. Insightful, painful, very funny, this is a must-read for all of us with a vote, whichever side we thought we were on.

Download PDF The Lived Experience in Mental Health Book by Gary Morris Full eBook and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-09-15 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The importance of recognising the knowledge and the needs of service users and engaging them more proactively within the care process is now widely acknowledged, but it is not always clear how this can come about. The Lived Experience of Mental Health highlights individuals’ own lived and felt mental health experience in order to share their expertise about mental health problems and the care offered. This text begins by exploring the importance of engaging with the internal world of those living with various mental health problems and reflecting upon personal narratives as means of expressing and sharing experience, as well as the status of these narratives as 'evidence'. The central section of the book looks at five commonly experienced mental health states: anxiety problems, depression, mood extremes, states of altered reality (linked, for example, with psychosis and schizophrenia) and impaired cognition (linked, for example, with dementia). The chapters look at how the mental state in question is experienced, including the experience of it in the context of the wider world, where health and social care services and the responses of other people play a part. Drawing on personal narratives from a wide range of sources, this text foregrounds the voices of experts by experience and relates them to the academic literature. The narratives collectively convey a breadth of experience including both concepts of struggling and living well with mental health issues. The book ends by outlining resources where a range of first-person narratives can be accessed, from online forums to films, and providing a strategy for teaching and learning associated with the exploration of lived experience narratives. Designed for health professionals working with people experiencing mental health problems, this illuminating text uses personal narratives to emphasise the importance of person-centred care and participation by services users in their own care. It will also be an interesting read for experts by experiences themselves as well as their families and friends.

Download PDF Questioning and Teaching Book by J.T. Dillon Full eBook and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2004-06-04 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Questions and questioning play a major role in both formal and informal educative processes. They are the means by which a child expresses the desire to understand the world outside, and they subsequently become the means by which a teacher assesses whether or not a child has satisfactorily assimilated something. The teacher can also use questions to direct and control the course of students' studies. The ability and desire to question might be considered in itself one of the aims of education. This author has made an extensive study of the place of questioning in education and this book is the fullest record to date of that study. Its scope is comprehensive. It considers questions from the point of view of the one questioning and the one being questioned, and considers pupil and teacher in both of these roles. This work is grounded in theory, research, and practice and is informed by research done in other fields such as psychotherapy, criminal interrogation, and computer science.
Download PDF Teaching About Adolescence Book by John McKinney Full eBook and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-05-30 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For this volume, Professors McKinney, Schiamberg, and Shelton assembled contributors to write about something that is written about far too infrequently: How to present scientific research on adolescent development in ways students find interesting, believable, relevant, and worth remembering when the term is over. Graduate education in adolescent development almost always guarantees adequate training in research and theory, but training in creative pedagogy is more often than not left to chance. Those of us who teach adolescence regularly know that colleagues all over the world use innovative approaches to take advantage of the real-world relevance of the material, but most of these approaches remain insiders’ tricks of the trade. Teaching About Adolescence is, to my knowledge, the first volume that describes and explains how—and, more importantly, why—the best teachers of adolescence do what they do. It is a much needed book. But this book is much more than a collection of recipes for interesting class exercises or term projects. First published in 1999. Routledge is an imprint of Taylor & Francis, an informa company.
